Terrace Cafe at Hyatt Regency Jeju (Seogwipo, SOUTH KOREA) ★★★★☆

We are having lunch at Hyatt Regency Jeju this afternoon. In exactly two days, it won't be a Hyatt establishment anymore. They've had a real good run but their recent acquisition by a local group would see them switch to a different name starting in September - The Shore Hotel Jeju.

I booked our table at Terrace Cafe, their all-day-dining restaurant through their online booking system. Took me no more than a minute.

The hostess took us to our table but first, we had to walk past their deli. I was impressed with the selection of cakes and sandwiches (including Baskin Robins ice-cream sandwich) offered here.

I am guessing that all the hotel guests went out by now (it was almost 1:30pm), which would explain the empty dining room.

Of course, we asked for a table by the window so we could enjoy a view to the beach.

Similar to the food menu at Sum Mora, Haevichi Hotel & Resort yesterday, it's international comfort food with a bit of Korean twist.

Terrace Cafe at Hyatt Regency Jeju Hotel and Resort - All-day Food Menu

Classic Caesar salad (13,000 won) - The salad came with crisp Romaine heart lettuce, crispy bacon, herbed croutons, parmesan shavings, anchovy and tomato, finished off with a classic Caesar dressing. Very authentic and very tasty (perhaps we haven't had veggies for a while?).

Lobster pasta (25,000 won) - The spaghetti was tossed in a lobster bisque-like sauce with chili flakes, garlic and parsley. I don't think we've had lobster on this trip so I was looking forward to it. Turned out it was really nice and meaty. A very delicious dish with some nice heat.

Seafood stonepot rice (32,000 won) - Traditional Korean mixed rice dish served in a hot stone bowl with local abalone, octopus and prawns. It was accompanied by some Korean banchan, small side dishes served with cooked rice in a Korean meal.

The abalone looked really big. The only thing missing was some fresh sea urchin!

Fish and Chips (33,000 won) - Finally, some fish and chips. These composed of thin-battered catfish, Norwegian salmon and onion rings. I don't recall I ever had fish and chips with salmon before. It tasted a little funny but the thin batter really came through nicely.

They have a really nice facility here. The decoration and furniture look a bit dated but you can't beat the laid-back vibe by the beach.

Perhaps, I should seriously consider coming back to Jeju Island next year and stay a couple of nights at a resort hotel like this.

The damage to my wallet is more or less the same as yesterday's meal at Sum Mora but I got lobster and abalone today versus carbonara and clubhouse sandwich yesterday. I think that's a pretty good trade-off.
