Haevichi Hotel and Resort is one of the top resort hotels in Jeju Island and I could definitely see why. The hotel is divided into two separate buildings, a elegantly designed resort building (but in an older building) and a contemporary-style hotel residence, which was the one we had the pleasure of visiting.
All the hotel restaurants seemed to be closed for lunch today except Sum Mora, their casual diner offering all-day dining with something for everyone.
Homemade pork pancetta carbonara (26,000 won) - A simple carbonara for my little nugget. I wonder if the homemade pancetta was made with local black pork.
Hamburger steak with poached egg and steamed rice (26,000 won) - A Japanese style hamburger steak served with barbecue sauce and poached egg. A little spicy and pretty addictive.
Chinese noodles with black bean sauce with Jeju black pork (20,000 won) - A Korean inspired Beijing Zha Jiang Mian (Fried sauce noodles 炸醬麵) with diced Jeju black pork.
They said "black bean sauce" on the menu but it really didn't taste like one. In fact, it tasted a little more like miso sauce with some extra sweetness.
Haevichi club sandwich with chicken breast, bacon, tomato and fried egg (24,000 won) - A pretty nice clubhouse sandwich. Everyone was all over the French fries as they were probably fresh out of the boiling oil.
We wanted extra time to enjoy this meal and looked like we have accomplished that without a problem. Even had time to explore the hotel grounds after lunch.
The sky starts to clear at this point but is it too early to expect some sunshine (finally!) in the afternoon? I guess we will find out pretty soon.
