It took me less than half an hour to drive back to Nohyeong and the city centre. By the time we got there, it was almost 12:30pm. Time for another stoppage, this time for lunch.
Located in a two-story building in Nohyeong-dong, Neulbom Black Pork (or Heukdwaeji, 늘봄흑돼지) is a restaurant that specializes in charcoal grilled black pork. It's a very popular place among the locals because it uses prized black pork from Jeju Island only.
The restaurant offers different cuts of pork including pork belly, ribs and more (ranging from 18,000 - 22,000 won for one-person's portion).
Other notable dishes include kimchi jeongol (Korean-style hot pot with kimchi, meat, mushroom, seafood etc.), Jeonbok Ttubaegi (Abalone stew in clay pot) and Haemul Ttubaegi (seafood stew in clay pot).
After all the side dishes and condiments arrived, here comes the prized black pork belly from Jeju!
Our server did all the hard work for us and when the pork was almost ready to be served, she brought her big scissors to cut it into smaller pieces.
These are almost ready.
The pork strips were fairly tasty but the crust was more on the hard side (which was killing my teeth).
Haemul Ttubaegi - The seafood stew was served in a traditional clay pot.
Bibimbap - Korean mixed rice with beef for our little one. Very difficult to see the stir-fried beef coz it's shredded into tiny pieces.
Not exactly the results I was looking for from my first barbecued black pork experience in Jeju Island. What I had at Maple Tree House in Seoul (especially the Jeju black pork) was way better!
