Villa de Ato (빌라드아토) is a local cafe that has come highly recommended by a number of bloggers. It's very hard to miss it thanks to its eye-catching pink walls.
They seem to have it all here, from breakfast dishes, salad and sandwiches to simple pasta, coffee and smoothies.
More surprises as soon as we entered the little cafe.
A little bit of Spanish villa look and feel here and there.
I am all for restaurants and cafes going paperless these days. Certainly won't mind food and drink menu on a wooden board but on a big-screen TV? Why not?
Jeju tangerine juice (6,000 won) on the left and Apple mango ice flakes (18,000 won) on the right.
This tasted a lot like our chilled mango pomelo sago cream (楊枝甘露) from Hong Kong. Actually not a bad drink to start the morning with (on a hot summer day).
Romantic latte (5,000 won) - Love is in the air! A romantic drink with a heart-shaped foam floating on top. It turned out to be tiramisu flavored latte.
Croissant and Spanish omelette (12,000 won) - I could smell this miles away. Very aromatic.
The Spanish omelette tossed with ham, tomato and onion was seriously good and I thought the garnish of cherry tomatoes, cheese, radish and peach made the dish exceptionally sharp. The croissant (likely not homemade) was just okay.
Avocado sandwich (8,000 won) - Less successful was the avocado sandwich. A very busy breakfast dish with fried egg, ricotta cheese, ham, avocado guacamole and grain bread that really looked better than it tasted.
It's not really a cheap breakfast by Jeju standard but everyone including me enjoyed soaking up the laid-back vibe here.
