My Me Time in Sinsa came to an abrupt end when I bumped into the gang on my way to Garosu-gil. They were caught taking photos in front of C27 Cheesecake and Coffee, a cheesecake specialist that Jelloman and I used to love visiting prior to the pandemic.
It was in one of these chairs that we took a photo with the 5-month old little nugget back in 2016, one of the many highlights from little one's first-ever overseas trip.
Gangnam's dining scene has changed a lot over the years and even more so after being struck by COVID-19. Many of our favorite restaurants and cafes are no longer in business and even those who survive, have taken a huge hit on the chin. Just looking at C27 for instance, this dessert cafe used to be buzzing with diners all the time, locals and tourists alike. But it was so quiet when we pushed the door open.....
C27 stands for the 27 different flavors of cheesecakes on their menu.
No one is particularly hungry so we just ordered one set to share among us.
Ricotta strawberry cheesecake (리코타 스트로베리 치즈케이크) – Little guy was the only one who's really hungry and he wanted something sweet but light, so we handpicked this one especially for him. A layer of strawberry mousse with strawberry compote sandwiched between the ricotta cheese and cream cheese.
He said he could finish it off all by himself and looked like he's right.

Seoul is like a second home for me and to see such a big blow to some of these restaurants and cafes from COVID, we couldn't help but feel deeply saddened about it. With tourists gradually coming back, I am hoping that they will bounce back sooner rather than later. Next time, this room should be full and buzzing again.
