Sai Jai Thai Store Shek O (Hong Kong, CHINA) ★★★☆☆

This first trip to Shek O Beach (石澳泳灘) has been surreal thus far. The kids are absolutely loving it and for us daddies, we are thrilled that restaurants, cafes and food stalls are just around the corner making things much easier to manage.



I was joking with everyone that this felt a lot like a trip to a resort island in Thailand. Take a look at the following photo for example, tell me it didn't look like we were hanging out somewhere in a small resort town. 



Some of us who know the area inside out recommended this skewer joint called Sai Jai Thai Store for us. I tried to google it up and find a Chinese name but without success. Guess they didn't have a Chinese name after all. And why would they need one anyways. Heck, they probably won't need any name. Judging from the smell of charcoal and burnt meat, I knew immediately that we were in for a treat.

 

Well, as soon as we placed our orders, customers were coming in left and right forming a huge queue behind us.

Grilled pineapple, always a crowd pleaser for adults and kids alike.

Zucchini, eggplant and some siu mai for the kids.

Look at those grilled chicken wings in golden brown color. I'm sure they'll be gone in the matter of seconds.

Some ice-cream cones after the grilled meat and vegetables for the kids.

We ended up spending 6 lazy hours here starting from 11am in the morning. If someone had told me that there was never a dull moment in these 6 hours, I would tell him/her that s/he's crazy. But that ended up being the case. We played some water pistols, beach volleyball, and well watched the kids run around; and time flies.....
