When we had dinner at Shabu Yamawarau Omotesando (しゃぶしゃぶ 山笑ふ 表参道店) on the second day of our trip, we accidentally bumped into its sister restaurant Yakiniku Yamashofu Omotesando (やきにく 山笑ふ 表参道店) on the ground floor of the same building. We even went in thinking it was our dinner venue. It wasn’t until we stepped inside that we realized our mix-up but Jelloman took in the mouthwatering aroma of grilled meat and demanded a return trip.
Four days later, here we are.
I would most definitely go for the counter bar if it's not for the kids.
Yeah, I think this private dining area would suit us just fine.
A couple of assorted meat platter got us started.
Once we finished greasing the grill with the cube of beef fat, it was time to put in the slices of fatty beef.
Assorted black wagyu (8,800 yen) – Didn't know about the origin but the quality was certainly remarkable. This came with great texture and a nice balance of meat and fat.
Delicious!
This one was a little leaner than I thought but the soft bite was again very very nice.
Yonezawa pork loin (800 yen) – Very meaty and flavorful. I was pleasantly surprised with its juiciness.
Deluxe tongue (1,150 yen) – We had a choice between thickly sliced or thinly sliced. This was the "thick" version with half portion.
Despite being slightly overcooked, the beef tongue remained very very tender.
Bibim noodles (1,180 yen) – Some Korean-style thin wheat flour noodles. We made sure that it wasn't too spicy for the kids.
We were all blown away by the exceptional quality of the meat and the surprisingly reasonable prices. This definitely calls for an encore!
