After all the treatment I received this morning, I was supposed to have the afternoon off and rest at home. But since we have an important meeting scheduled in the afternoon, I decided to drag my ailing body along to be in attendance.
A small treat for myself just before the meeting. This has been my favorite afternoon tea combo at Honolulu Coffee Shop (檀島咖啡餅店) for the last little while. The iced milk tea was again strong, creamy and full-bodied, but also flavorful and aromatic.
Sa-yung (沙翁), or traditional Chinese egg puffs with sugar (懷舊冰花蛋球). Not many places make these anymore. The deep-fried doughnut came with the usual delicate balance of crispiness and chewiness. The texture, along with the eggy aroma and subtle yeasty undertones made it so irresistible (at least for me).
I was glad to squeeze this in despite my very busy schedule this afternoon. Time to re-group and get myself prepared for the meeting.
