The fact that Jelloman didn't call for airport pickup service at Haneda raised a few eyebrows but after an hour of dragging our luggage up and down the stairways from one metro line to another, we finally made it to our hotel. It wasn't easy. In fact, for a few moments I thought I won't make it to our destination without passing out in the cold weather. OK, I am exaggerating a bit but there's a lesson to be learnt here. Do not overestimate ourselves.
After a relatively smooth check-in at the kiosk, we dropped off our luggage at our room and went out for a late supper. It was almost 11pm at the time. The good thing was, we knew this area reasonably well since we have stayed here (Higashi-ginza 東銀座) before in 2023.
Since most restaurants were closed at this late hour, I quickly led everyone to the "Ramen Street" behind GINZA SIX, where five to six ramen shops were lined up along the street, with a couple of them still open.
Ramen Takahashi (焼きあご塩らー麺たかはし) is a popular ramen chain in Japan known for its signature "Yakiago Shio Ramen" (焼きあご塩らー麺), a delicate and flavorful salt-based ramen featuring grilled flying fish (yakiago) as its key ingredient.
While we were waiting for our ramen noodles to be served up, we were offered a small cup of the grilled flying fish broth as a "sneak preview".
Special Yakiago Shio Ramen (1,340 yen) – I had this in 2016 when I visited their Kabukicho outpost (歌舞伎町店) and still remembered the flavorful grilled flying fish broth really well.

The char siu was soft and melted in the mouth.
The heart and soul of the ramen was its clear yet umami-rich flying fish broth combining well with the high-quality salt they were using.
I thought the medium-thick noodles did a nice job clinging onto the broth.

Can't believe it's almost midnight by the time we finished slurping our noodles but it was well worth staying up late for! I hope this is a sign of great things to come for our upcoming culinary adventure in Tokyo.
