After making a few stops around Kichijōji, we finally decided to get some rest at Renga-kan Mall, a small shopping complex with fashion boutiques, eateries and more.
Months ago, I have already pinned this branch of A Happy Pancake (幸せのパンケーキ 吉祥寺店) on my map. With the Japanese pancake specialist's recent decision to leave the Hong Kong market, mom has been unable to enjoy her favorite soufflé pancakes. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity for her to get re-acquainted with one of her favorite sweets.
Most "A Happy Pancake" cafés are always flooded with customers. Take the one in Osaka for example, it often takes hours to get a table but not here in Kichijōji.
Soufflé pancakes with milk tea sauce with homemade granola (1,560 yen) – We had this on a number of occasions before and thought it was the best flavor by a pretty wide margin.
The tangy royal milk flavored ganache was the perfect match with the fluffy pancakes.
Royal milk tea (350 yen) – And the perfect pairing with my milk tea pancakes, a glass of icy royal milk tea!
We still have a few hours to spend before dinner in Omotesando. Mom and little nugget were a little tired so Jelloman suggested that we leave them here while we head out for some more shopping. Sounds like a plan to me!
