Little nugget was supposed to undergo a 3-hour operation this afternoon, one which has been scheduled more than a year ago. Jelloman and I have already taken our annual leave to accompany him but a black rainstorm warning signal washed it out completely and guess what, we ended up going to Shenzhen so our annual leave won't be wasted.
As usual, we spent some game time at the arcade centre before enjoying a very late lunch at Wuzhuang (吳莊) in Link CentralWalk (領展中心城).
Wuzhuang has become a popular dining spot for Hongkongers thanks to its wonderful prices and reasonably good food quality. Not surprisingly, they have been expanding to many new shopping malls in Shenzhen in recent months.
This guy has been so happy since learning that he could forego his operation temporarily.
He could breathe a sigh of relief as he's been telling me how intense he was leading up to this week.
Hangzhou style braised lion’s head (揚州獅子頭) (¥39) – A meal at Wuzhuang is not complete without ordering the lion's head. This was again very tender and flavorful at the same time (thanks to the sauce) and I thought the deep-fried quail eggs were the perfect icing on the cake.
Claypot tofu (石鍋豆腐) (¥19) – I can't recall last time I had a dish for just $19. This went well with the steamed rice but apart from that, nothing special enough to write home about.
Steamed shrimps with garlic and vermicelli (蒜蓉粉絲鳳尾蝦) (¥47) – The shrimps were nicely complemented by the vermicelli and soy sauce but they could have made use of more chopped garlic to really amp up the flavors.
A meal costing around $100 for three people. That's unheard of in recent memory. I guess It’s no secret why Hongkongers love traveling north for the weekend.
