Hotel The Leben Osaka (Osaka, JAPAN)

Jelloman’s cousin and family are joining us in Osaka for two days before heading to Tokyo. To make the most of our time together, I was tasked with finding a hotel near their accommodation—or ideally, at the same place. It was later confirmed that Team Aussie had booked a room at MIMARU Osaka Shinsaibashi North, located just east of the Shinsaibashi (心斎橋) shopping streets in an area sometimes referred to as Minamisenba (南船場) — a neighborhood I know all too well from my extensive travel in Osaka.

Without hesitation, I jumped onto a booking site and reserved a room at Hotel The Leben Osaka for our stay.

Opened during the height of COVID, Hotel The Leben Osaka has steadily grown in popularity thanks to its prime location near Osaka’s most famous shopping streets. Its position on the quieter edge of a lively tourist district makes it an excellent choice for families.

We’ve stayed here three times before, so returning for a fourth was an easy decision.

The hotel lobby is usually bustling with guests waiting for rides and helping themselves to complimentary drinks and amenities — everything from toothbrushes and razors to moisturizer and face masks.

With prices soaring due to the World Expo, I opted for a smaller room this time to save a few bucks. Our standard twin room didn’t have a living room area, and the bathroom was noticeably smaller, but the overall space was still larger than most hotel rooms in Japan.

The bathroom setup remained the same: a bathtub next to the shower.

During this stay, I got to explore the neighborhood a bit more and discovered a few gems worth sharing:

  • Life Supermarket: A newly opened two-story store just across the street on a back road. Perfect for picking up essentials like water, milk, and bread.
  • Coffee Kan Osaka Honten (珈琲館 大阪本店): A cozy spot for breakfast or a late-night snack just a 3-minute walk from the hotel. It opens 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • No Name Ramen Sakaisuji Honmachi (名もなきラーメン 堺筋本町店): If you love ramen, don’t miss this new shop on Sakaisuji Street specializing in chicken ramen. Open until 11 p.m.

And don’t forget — complimentary cosmetic supplies like moisturizer and face masks are available in the lobby. If you happen to return early, take a moment to relax and rejuvenate with a face mask!
