After spending nearly the entire afternoon at Injoy Shopping Centre (卓悦汇), it was finally time to grab a quick supper before heading back to Hong Kong. Judging by everyone’s facial expressions, everybody was apparently tired of having Chinese food so I made the call to have western food tonight.
The English name (The Stonegrill) of this steakhouse certainly rang a bell. It reminded me of the good old days back in Hong Kong, when an upscale steakhouse by the same name served its signature steaks on sizzling hot stones — hence the name. But as it turned out, tonight’s venue was a completely different restaurant altogether.
Avocado salad with shrimps (鮮蝦牛油果沙律) (¥58) – Avocado dishes and beverages seemed to be a hot commodity in Shenzhen and not surprisingly, it wasn't hard to find a satisfying avocado salad to kick off our meal.
Pasta with prawns and homemade lobster sauce (龍蝦汁鮮蝦意粉) (¥58) – The pasta was slightly overcooked to my liking but the homemade lobster sauce along with the dried chili added a nice depth and warmth to the dish. A comforting bite overall.
Roasted Australian brisket steak (岩鹽烤澳洲M3牛排) (¥138) – The main event tonight. Served with sea salt and buttery slabs melting over the top, the Australian M3 steak arrived on a sizzling hot metal plate.
Juicy and flavorful, though the portion was a bit smaller than expected.
This fat boy finished up the entire bowl of pasta all by himself!
To wrap things up, we were treated to a complimentary scoop of vanilla gelato, which was a lovely touch before we took care of the bill.
This wasn’t quite the fine-dining experience I once remembered from the Stone Grill of old Hong Kong. But with prices this reasonable and food this satisfying, I’d happily come back for another round.
