After settling the team into their respective rooms, I found the night to be still young for bed. Instead of venturing out to Kofukuji Temple (興福寺) or Nara Park (奈良公園) in the dark, I decided to treat myself to something sweet without actually going out.
Located on the ground floor of Miroku Nara by The Share Hotels, Miroku Terrace Cafe & Bar is a breakfast and lunch spot by day and dessert cafe and bar by night.
Once I settled in, I realized that there was a more private area deeper within the cafe.
Initially, I was the only customer around but as the night progressed, a few hotel guests returned and joined me for late-night drinks.
Like most restaurants in Shenzhen these days, the ordering was self-service via a QR code at the back of the menu.
Didn't take long for my latte and cheesecake to arrive.
Iced Yamato tea latte (700 yen) – I’ve always believed that the closer you get to Uji (宇治), the better the matcha beverages taste! Given that Nara is only a 30-minute drive from Uji, renowned for its exceptional matcha farms, it was no surprise that the tea delivered rich and deep flavors despite its light color.
I am so glad I came downstairs for this.
Yamato tea Basque burnt cheesecake (750 yen) – Feeling a bit hungry after our ramen dinner, I decided to get myself a dessert to accompany my tea. Unfortunately, the kitchen was already closed, so only light snacks (like nuts) and a couple of desserts (Basque burnt cheesecake and chocolate tart) were available at that hour.
On a typical night, the small portion would have been sufficient to satisfy my craving, but I was still a little hungry, so I ended up enjoying two slices of this delightful cheesecake. It was incredibly soft and fluffy, with a creamy texture and an exciting matcha flavor that left me thoroughly satisfied.
