Nobody is a happier camper than I am today!
I finally got to cross Ginkaku-ji (銀閣寺) off my list. While it may not match the luxurious allure of Kinkaku-ji (金閣寺) with its golden façade, Ginkaku-ji does have its own understated charm. Like most temples in Kyoto, we completed our tour of the premises in a little over 10 minutes, giving us extra time to explore the surrounding neighborhood.
Following our visit to Ginkaku-ji, we stopped by Sanzuian (氵庵), a modern coffee shop with a Japanese twist for a quick drink.
We were instantly drawn in by its contemporary design and decided to take a break here.
Someone was already enjoying a seat at the café!
This place is the perfect place to relax and escape the scorching sun. 🌞🌞
Matcha latte with brown sugar jelly (1,400 yen) – I like the idea of matching the sweetness of brown sugar jelly against the bitterness of matcha.
But I thought that the tea notes weren't as pronounced as I hoped, and the texture didn't quite deliver the creaminess I expect from a delicious matcha latte in Kyoto.
We still have one more destination in Kyoto before driving down to Osaka. It's time to buckle up again.
