While we spent time walking around Grand Green Osaka, I made sure that we carved out enough time for Time Out Market Osaka, a large, indoor food and cultural market that opened in March 2025 as part of the Grand Green Osaka development. It's Time Out's first foray into Asia featuring 17 food kitchens and two bars, all curated to showcase the very best of Kansai’s culinary talent. From traditional Japanese fare to global flavors, there’s something here for everyone.
That said, I had my sights set on one spot only — Seiichiro Nishizono, a highly acclaimed patisserie from Osaka, renowned for its exquisite, French-inspired pastries, chocolates, and desserts. Since opening its doors in Higobashi (肥後橋) in 2014, it has earned a stellar reputation for combining artistry with flavor in every bite.
And now, foodies can conveniently find them at their new venture inside Time Out Market, next to Osaka Station.
We arrived at around 6pm and not surprisingly, most of their best-selling pastries and desserts were already sold out for the day.
Leaving behind a handful of options only.
Mango tart (800 yen) – No, I am not going away empty-handed.
This was a breath of tropical freshness. The cubes of fresh Mahachanok mango from Thailand and pastry cream worked incredibly well with the crisp, buttery sable tart.
There was a subtle, aromatic note I couldn’t quite put my finger on — something that tied the flavors together beautifully. As it turned out, it came from a hidden layer of rum-infused almond cream nestled inside the sable tart. A clever, elegant touch that elevated the whole experience.
