I got a break in action I fully deserved after looking after the kids and their belongings for more than an hour. As there was still another two hours before dinner time, my plan was to take a walk to a nearby French pâtisserie by the name of Pâtisserie ease for a sweet treat and then some.
Located on the quiet side of Nihonbashi (日本橋), Pâtisserie ease is a traditional French pastry shop famous for its cakes and viennoiseries.
A nice piece of cake with a cup of coffee sounds like the perfect one-two punch for me at this hour.
But I got some bad news as soon as I stepped into the pâtisserie. Due to the incredibly high demand of their cakes for the holiday season, they have already suspended their dine-in services to focus solely on meeting their upcoming delivery schedule.
Take-away is still available; however, there were only two cakes left and both of them were more suited for sharing among a few people. Well, no problem there! As we are going to have dinner with two other families, I am sure they won't mind having a slice of cake.
Fraisier (2,800 yen) – This came with two layers of genoise sponge and a centre filled with rich vanilla mousseline cream and fresh strawberries.
The key here was the silky smooth vanilla mousseline which was so delicate and rich, and it really tied everything together neatly. It was impressed!
