I’m starting to like this group more and more these days. After coming up with the idea to dine at gastropub Nibonbashi Brewery T.S. A few nights ago, someone offered an idea for tonight’s dinner venue, Let Us Shabu Shabu Shibuya (しゃぶしゃぶ れたす 渋谷センター街店). I can again sit back, relax and enjoy some wagyu beef. How cool is that!

Let Us Shabu Shabu Shibuya is a trendy hotpot restaurant that offers 120-minute one-person hot pot all-you-can-eat sets.

One gets an unlimited supply of beef, pork, chicken, vegetables and appetizers for just 4,200yen.

This looks like a pretty strong lineup for one person’s portion (beef and pork hidden underneath).

The kids were trying to decide which broth to go with and there were quite a wide selection for their taking.

I decided to go with this "Ultimate Japanese soup stock" which was their most popular broth. It was a flavorful dashi made primarily with vegetables.

Mom had the soy milk broth since she had never tried it before in her life.

Starting things off with some beef.....

This was very meaty but a little less marbled than we expected.

The star of the evening belonged to this aged pork loin.

Despite looking like a very thin slice of pork, it slowly turned into this flavorful and succulent pork fillet after absorbing all the flavors from the umami-rich clear broth.

Apart from beef tongue (right) which was always a crowd pleaser for hotpot, we also got some pork tongue (left) which was less crunchy but far more tender and full of flavors.

I haven't had this one before, Japanese burdock "noodles".

After taking on all the meat and vegetables for 110 minutes, it was time to turn our attention to dessert. Although there was only one dessert on the menu, everyone was more than happy to get into the act.

The foamy matcha tiramisu came with a bit of red beans in the middle. A very nice, sweet ending after a very busy day.
