Pierre Gagnaire Pains et Gateaux (Tokyo, JAPAN) ★★★★☆

It’s Christmas Day today! Hurray!

Well, we didn’t have much planned for Christmas celebration today. We were supposed to have lunch at one of my favorite French bistros in Tokyo but little nugget had a high fever last night and last time I checked, he was still in deep sleep. So, I decided to take a short walk around the Akasaka area while he gets some much needed rest.

I ended up walking all the way to InterContinental ANA Hotel for nostalgia’s sake. It’s an area I know pretty well from my hay days. Jelloman used to have her Tokyo events right here at this hotel and I tagged along on a number of occasions. Thinking back, it was nice to tag along her trips but with little nugget “abroad” now, her job no longer requires business travel anymore.

Of course, I had to drop by Pierre Gagnaire Pains et Gateaux on the lobby floor. They used to have some amazing pastries and they still do. I heard it through the grapevines that InterContinental ANA is working on some major changes with Chef Pierre Gagnaire for 2024. I hope it won’t be the end of their collaboration.

Not surprisingly, today’s pastries consisted of many Christmas themed creations. I wasn’t particularly hungry so I chose this little hazelnut praline éclair for my breakfast. It was nicely decorated with Christmas colors. I love it.

The praline custard was so silky smooth~

I hope this won’t be my last visit to Pierre Gagnaire Pains et Gateaux and there will be plenty to come in the future.
