Hôtel la Résidence du Vieux-Port (Marseille, FRANCE)

As a seaside city in the South of France, I thought Marseilles or Nice would boast an abundance of hotels with a seaside view but however, through the research prior to our trip, there were only a handful of good ones that tick most of our boxes. For Marseille in particular, Hôtel la Résidence du Vieux-Port in Marseille was the run-away winner for a number of reasons.

A boutique hotel strategically located near Vieux Port (the Old Port),
Hôtel la Résidence du Vieux-Port in Marseille offers more than just an amazing view and centralized location.

I love the colorful lobby with a tremendous amount of space. Too bad we had such a busy schedule, we barely had time to spend here.

This marked our first taste of staying at an aparthotel in Europe.

One of our two bedrooms is directly facing Vieux Port with a stunning view of the waterfront.

The room was nicely decorated with simple furniture, desk and TV. We had our own Wifi so we didn't need the complimentary wifi service provided in-house here.

A long and narrow bathroom separating the two bedrooms.

The second bedroom wasn't bad but it was a little dark without a window (and it's facing the back side of the hotel). We didn't really use much of this room at all other than for storage of our luggage.

The moment we've been waiting for, stepping onto the balcony for the first time. This is right on the top of busy Quai du Port. It's always full of pedestrians but surprisingly, not much traffic especially after midnight (which was good!).

This view alone was worth the king's ransom!

A panoramic view of Vieux Port, with the Ferris wheel on the left and Basilique Notre Dame de la Garde high on the mountain.

The night view here was simply amazing.

After enjoying a romantic walk around the Old Port, we got back to our hotel room to get some much needed rest. Just before calling it the day, I went back to the balcony one more time to admire the view. It was a totally different view at night all together with the lights from the nearby buildings and yachts on. It was a view I would never forget about in my life!
