Mercure Nice Promenade des Anglais Hotel (Nice, FRANCE)

I can't recall paying more than 300 Euros for a room at Mercure before but that's the price going these days for a sea-view room in a beautiful city like Nice. And since I'm only staying in the city for less than 24 hours, I thought it's important to stay right in the middle of the action, and that will be Promenade des Anglais where Mercure is conveniently located.

I did all my homework before the trip and found two very important points to note about this hotel (especially if you're traveling by car). For one, it's sharing the same building with the neighboring Le Méridien Nice and two, they don't have their own parking grounds but there's public parking right underneath that cost around 22 Euro a day. (Look for the parking entrance on Avenue Gustave V.)

I just couldn't ask for better traffic coming from Italy this afternoon and we made it to Nice right before sunset as planned. After climbing three sets of stairs from the underground floor with two REALLY heavy luggage, I finally made it to the ground floor lobby alive!

But that (the steps) would be the only problem we had during our stay. The staff here was very friendly and we even got an upgrade to a privilege room (though with the same view).

This is the amazing view I have been looking forward to!

They have installed two layers of glasses behind the balcony as part of their sound proof system so it wasn't all that noisy (though not entirely noise free).

The studio was well designed with the bed in the middle and a separate shower room and toilet right behind it.

This is all about location. I thought the room was a little better than a typical Mercure room and so was its design but you could tell things were a bit dated from up close.
