Glacier Fenocchio (Nice, FRANCE) ★★★☆☆

Thirty seconds were all it took for us to spot another place in Nice's Old Town for more sweet treat after finishing up our macaron ice-cream sandwich at Les Gourmandises d'Angéa.

Just across the block from Les Gourmandises d'Angéa, we managed to bump into Glacier Fenocchio, one of the top ice cream parlour in Nice since it opened its door back in 1966 on Place Rossetti. This is their second shop in the Old Town and it has pretty much the same 100 flavors of ice-cream and sorbet their flagship store has to offer. Yes, 100 flavor (I was told 94 flavors to be exact!) I'm not joking!

Apart from the more usual flavors (mostly fruity ones), they also have some pretty funky (and weird) ones such as cactus, black olive, thyme, sabayon, cola and mojito in their repertoire.

Well, I'm feeling too adventurous tonight so scoops of lychee and lavender ice-cream (€4.5) did it for me.

I thought what impressed me most about this little ice cream parlour was their attention to details. Before our server started scooping the ice-cream for us, he went to the sink behind him and washed his hands very thoroughly. That's something you don't see very often from any ice-cream parlour.
