It's been a while since I last stopped by Rosewood Hong Kong for a meal but on a Friday afternoon after a long long meeting, I decided to give myself a treat. BluHouse has always appealed to me more for its warm, European ambience than its authentic Italian fare but this afternoon, I was in need for some warmth and comfort which made it the perfect choice.
Some homemade bread to get things started.
Vitello tonnato – The thin slices of cold roast milk fed veal was finished off with a drizzle of tuna sauce, capers, shaved nuts and perilla.
This was pretty tasty and I like the different textures to complement the richness of both the veal and sauce nicely.
Mezze Maniche alla vodka – Mezze maniche pasta was tossed in a "Benedetto cavalieri" tomato sauce with vodka and spicy "Nduja" sausage. I was hoping it would measure up to the version from Carbone, but unfortunately, the pasta was a bit too firm and rubbery for my liking. The flavors were there but the texture didn’t quite hit the mark.
Tiramisu – Every good Italian restaurant should have a killer tiramisu and this looked as authentic as it could get, with ladyfinger, espresso, "Eggnog" Zabaione and dark cocoa.
This was pretty creamy, which I enjoyed immensely but I thought the overall texture was a little on the hard side. And when it comes to tiramisu, I like it more airy and fluffy.
After lunch, I had a slow walk around the Promenade. Surprisingly, it wasn't overly crowded as I first suspected.
