I had a long and sleepless night last night so as rarely as it might sound, I actually slept in on a Saturday morning and almost entirely missed breakfast. With my breakfast time shifted, it was expected that it was going to be a late lunch for me.
It’s been a while since I last visited Kopitiam Bagus.Bagus (捌哥.捌哥特色馬拉茶啡廳) in Sham Shui Po. With the recent economic downturn hitting the F&B industry hard, it's been worrying to see some of my favorite Malaysian spots struggling. Kedai Kopi Semua Semua (蘇媽.蘇媽馬來西亞茶餐室), for instance, is now down to just two branches, Mongkok and Shatin.
So I figured it was a good time to revisit Kopitiam Bagus.Bagus and show my support. Here's my lunch today.
Teh tarik (凍拉茶) – Wonderfully aromatic as always, this chilled Malaysian pulled tea was the perfect way to kick off the meal. Smooth, fragrant and just the right amount of sweetness.
Ipoh chicken with bean sprouts and fresh chives (怡保芽菜雞) – The portion was huge. I thought I’d have trouble finishing it on my own, but given that it was already 4pm, it ended up being a satisfying combo of lunch and dinner for me.
The chicken was pretty tender, and the crunchy bean sprouts and fragrant chives brought everything together nicely.
