I don’t often get the chance to enjoy a proper breakfast break on a weekday, so when the opportunity comes around, I make the most of it. My colleague has been telling me about this relatively new cha chaan teng in Hunghom called Sweet One Cafe (糖一冰室). He knows I'm always game when it comes to local Cantonese fare.
The setup at Sweet One Café is exactly what you'd expect from a traditional cha chaan teng; casual, quick, and comforting.
There are some nice selection available on their breakfast menu and I noticed that the instant noodles with satay beef was labeled as a house specialty.

Iced milk tea (凍奶茶) – The tea was pretty light but I thought its silky smooth texture gave me a little something to cheer about.

Ham omelette (火腿蛋奄列) – While it didn’t look particularly impressive, it tasted better than expected. The scrambled egg was nicely runny just the way I like it.

Instant noodles with satay beef (金牌沙爹牛肉麵) – I was secretly looking forward to this.
I thought the broth was rich and flavorful working well with the firm, al dente noodles. The satay sauce added a nice kick but the beef itself was a bit on the rubbery side.
With everything going on at work this month, I’m thinking it might be a good time to pay a visit to Hung Hom Kwun Yum Temple (紅磡觀音廟) and ask for a little extra good luck.
