We were told by the hotel front desk that our room wasn’t ready for check-in yet. After dropping off our car with the concierge, we grabbed a quick bite nearby and headed straight to Rue du Président Édouard Herriot — one of the most important shopping streets on the Presqu’île in Lyon. While Jelloman started working on her shopping list, I went directly to Pâtisseries par Sébastien Bouillet on Rue des Archers.
This was my second visit to this branch of Patisseries par Sébastien Bouillet in the heart of Lyon.
Sébastien Bouillet is, of course, one of Lyon’s most iconic pastry chefs and chocolatiers. Known for blending French tradition with Japanese precision, his boutiques are a must-visit for any foodie coming to the city.
But make no mistake about it, I'm here for some of the most amazing French pastries that Lyon has to offer.
Odéon (€6.40) — You don't go to one of the most renowned chocolatier in the city without trying their chocolate cake.
A 70% dark chocolate mousse cake with a Madagascar vanilla centre, chocolate biscuit and almond dacquoise biscuit. The nucleus of vanilla cream and dark chocolate mousse was beautiful.
Tokyo (€6.40) — Almond and red praline crisp, red praline cream and tuile, yuzu cream, and grapefruit compote all sitting on a well-executed shortcrust pastry. Pretty delicious but I definitely enjoyed the chocolate cake more.
I ended up getting a couple of their macarons (dulcey sakura and intense chocolate) to taste along the way as well.
The intense chocolate was certainly very intense! Love this~
