Lenôtre Cannes (Cannes, FRANCE) ★★★★☆

Founded by Gaston Lenôtre in 1957, Maison Lenôtre is a world-renowned French luxury gastronomic brand, best known for its high-end pastries, chocolates, and catering services. Nowadays, it remains an iconic symbol of French culinary excellence, with its boutiques, professional training services and event catering.

Interestingly, my first experience with Lenôtre was not in France or anywhere in Europe but right in the capital of mainland China  Beijing. That experience, likely through a franchisee, wasn’t any indication of the level of excellence the brand stands for. It was through my later encounters with Lenôtre that I truly saw the heritage and luxury the brand has to offer.

So, I was of course thrilled to run into its elegant boutique in Cannes this morning. With no decent breakfast spot near our hotel, Lenôtre Cannes filled that void perfectly, thanks to its small sit-down dining area just outside the boutique.

Directly facing buzzy Rue d’Antibes, we had front-row seats to Cannes’ busiest streets while enjoying a lovely Provençal-style breakfast.

At Lenôtre’s gourmet boutiques, guests always expect a highly curated, sensory-driven experience.

Even at breakfast time, there were aged cheeses, premium cold cuts, and luxurious delicacies (think caviar) available for those interested in an early-morning indulgence.

Upscale French pastries are a big part of the Lenôtre brand, and that alone was worth a deep dive.

Hot chocolate — Rich hot chocolate made with authentic French couverture, woke me up almost instantly.

L'éclairs Œuf mimosa & volaille — A savory éclair with tender chicken, quail eggs, and a creamy “mimosa”-style filling. It’s classic, soft and beautifully balanced in texture.

Comme un Calisson de Provence — A dessert packed with Provençal flavors, inspired by the traditional calisson of Aix.

A vanilla biscuit soaked in orange-orange blossom syrup, topped with a crunchy almond duja, and crowned with a calisson-flavored mousse. It also includes melon and citrus confit, and last but not least, a delicate almond paste. It was a beautifully layered dessert.

Jelloman is off to get some last-minute shopping done so I got to spend some quality time with little nugget this morning.

It's about time we head to Nice for our flight back to Paris.
