Following a rather disappointing meal at L'Atelier Terre & Mer, we walked around the antique shops in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue before making our final stop in the picturesque town.
La Maison Jouvaud was a name we came across a few times while we visited Kyoto Gion. Housed in a beautiful Japanese setting, La Maison Jouvaud Kyoto Gion offers a delightful tea time experience, featuring an elegant tea salon where patrons can savor exquisite French pastries while enjoying a soothing cup of tea.
While La Maison Jouvaud has a number of locations in the Vaucluse department of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, this one in the heart of L' Isle-sur-la-Sorgue not only works as a neighborhood pastry shop and boulangerie but also doubles as a cozy café.
Of course, I immediately headed for the pastry counter.
A diverse array of beautifully presented pastries was already awaiting ahead, including several enticing options for chocolate cakes to satisfy different clienteles' preference.
Some traditional viennoiseries as well as some modern creations.
Mama Mia (€4.5) – This was primarily made of vanilla soufflé cream with strawberry-rhubarb confit hidden in the middle. It was sitting on a base of an almond biscuit; with crushed pistachio on top, adding nuttiness to the mix.
It was my second vanilla soufflé dessert as many days. This one came with a little more ingredients including the strawberry-rhubarb confit and lemon zest inside the vanilla soufflé as well as the toppings of crushed pistachio. But despite the additional flavors and textures, the one at Pâtisserie Guillet yesterday still stands out as the more delicious option with the vanilla soufflé cream working more in a supporting role.
On our way back to the parking lot, we came across this tea shop offering different flavors of Provence tea ranging from fruity ones to spiced and even alcoholic ones so we ended up getting some for our friends and family as souvenirs.
