Bourke Street Bakery Alexandria (Sydney, AUSTRALIA) ★★★☆☆

Jelloman has been complaining about the lack of classic Australian food since we arrived. It’s been almost a week and more than 10 meals later, her wish had yet to be granted. Today is her last chance to do it in Sydney; as we will be taking off for Brisbane the next morning.

For the past few days, we have been relying on the local trains to take us to different suburbs around Sydney. But today a very different strategy as we will go heavy on foot. We are aiming a few suburbs within walking distance from Mascot - Alexandria, Zetland and Waterloo just to name a few.

We had a very good start walking around Alexandria, bumping into Bourke Street Bakery, a neighborhood bakery cafe in an industrial area in the boundary between Alexandria and Rosebery. There we can check out Jelloman’s favorite meat pie!

Pork and fennel roll – As much as she wanted her meat pie, she decided to have this pork and fennel roll instead.

This was very meaty and rich in flavors, thanks to that strong gravy.

Chocolate ganache tart – I have always preferred sweet stuff over savory my whole life so this was a no-brainer.

The runny chocolate ganache was so intense and rich in chocolate flavor. Love it!

It was nice to sit outdoor under the sun and soak up the vibe (while watching cars go by). Back home in Hong Kong, this would have been impossible cuz we were always rushing for something every minute. Sometimes I think we even need to rush through the time we take a pee. That’s a real sad reality…..
