Everyone was a little dissatisfied with our early lunch at Osaka Kizu Market (木津市場) this morning. Following a short discussion among our group, it was pretty clear that we all wanted another lunch at a place with known quality and Komugi no Ikirumichi (大阪南船場 小麦と生きる道) immediately came to mind.
It was my third time dining at this chicken paitan ramen specialist but first time sitting at the counter table.
Chicken paitan ramen (930 yen) – I don't think I will be choosing anything other than their rich and creamy tori paitan ramen. Definitely not after the disappointing brunch we had earlier.
The soft-boiled egg was executed to perfection.
The two thin slices of pork shoulder was tender and full of flavors.
The noodles, all housemade with Haruyokoi wheat from Hokkaido, were the perfect match with the foamy chicken broth which was both thick and flavorful.
Hidden underneath the espuma was an intense broth that delivered powerful punch after punch for the palate. I thought I remembered experiencing a little better balance of sweetness and savory flavors in the broth before, but today it leaned more towards savory for sure.
While we were in the neighborhood, some of us had decided to pay a visit (to their restroom) to our beloved hotel, Hotel The Leben, where we stayed twice before.
