I missed out on the chance for a nice matcha dessert at Tsujiri Kyoto Gion (京都辻利 祇園本店) earlier this morning when we were on our way to Hanamikoji Street (花見小路通). Here's my second chance six hours later.
I would just love to take a seat at the tea salon of Saryo Tsujiri Gion (茶寮都路里 祇園) on the mezzanine floor but with the way our itinerary was set up, zero chance!
All we could spare was around five to six minutes so perhaps these little Japanese desserts would work.
Tsujiri's famous Uji matcha desserts packed in a small can. How cool is that!!!
They came in a variety of flavors, with this one primarily made with different textures of matcha and yuzu. The different layers consisted of Uji matcha mousse, matcha jelly, red bean paste, vanilla mousse, and yuzu jelly topped with matcha whipped cream and yuzu zest.
The streets of Gion are usually full of tourists from all around the world, drawn to its historic charm and traditional teahouses. However, tonight, there was an unusual sense of calmness. I wonder why.
