We missed out on the chance to enjoy some of Saryo Tsujiri (茶寮都路里)'s amazing Uji matcha desserts when we visited Kyoto on Christmas day but that didn't cause a panic knowing that they have a brand new tea salon right at our doorstep.
I was of course talking about their new location in Daimaru Shinsaibashi (大丸心齋橋), which was just opened in November 2024.
This location features a charming gift shop alongside an elegantly appointed tea salon at the corner.
Our friends and I have plans to visit Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport Kadoma together this morning but that didn't stop us from waking up early for a quick visit to the Uji matcha dessert specialist. As a matter of fact, we were the first group of customers to arrive when they opened at 10:00am sharp.
Kyo Tsujiri matcha parfait (1,800 yen) – Easily the most popular dessert from Saryo Tsuijiri. The parfait was beautifully layered with sweetened chestnut, matcha jelly, rice flour dumpling, streusel, azuki bean paste and vanilla ice-cream all topped with matcha soft serve, crispy financiers and more matcha jelly. It was served with a small cup of matcha condensed milk sauce on the side.
I like this so much because it combines a variety of textures and flavors, all packed into one amazing sweet treat!
Kyo Tsujiri hojicha parfait (1,800 yen) – Jelloman had the twin version of my matcha parfait, but all the matcha items were replaced with hojicha instead.
Afterwards, we took some time to check out some souvenirs.
The kids preferred to get a closer look at the food and drink menu at Kirby Cafe instead. This happened to be on the same floor as Saryo Tsujiri.
