Little nugget made me alter my plans a little but not to the extent that I needed to abandon it altogether. I still got to visit one of my favorite French pâtisserie in Kyoto, Grains de vanille.
Rumor has it that Pierre Hermé also visited this cake shop during his stay in Kyoto many years ago. That said a lot about the quality of pastries here.

They still offer some of the best selection of French pastries in town.
I can see that they have done a facelift inside the shop swapping the cake counter and dine-in area since 2018. That was my last visit.
Le Blanc (¥800) – Apparently, a new creation here for winter featuring blueberry and bergamot.
Hidden under the layer of delicate bergamot mousse was blueberry mousse and jelly with bergamot meringues playing the role of snow flakes. Not bad but not nearly enough to blow me away the way I thought it might.
