We had a very BIG and late breakfast this morning pushing us back on our plans to go out for lunch today. As we have a show to catch at the HK Space Museum at 5pm, we took our time to get ready before finally arriving in Tsim Sha Tsui. It was almost 3pm already.
Little one was tasked with choosing the cuisine for today's lunch and he wasted no time indicating that he wanted to yumcha (飲茶). Since both Jelloman and I haven't been to Social Place (唐宮小聚) for a long time, we decided to check out Social Place at Silvercord.

Social Place's food menu has gone thru a lot of changes since my last visit. They are no longer serving traditional Cantonese dim sum, now just dim sum with modern twist.
Baked whole abalone puff (原隻鮑魚酥) – The whole abalone was nicely braised with great texture and flavors. And there were the braised enoki mushrooms underneath the abalone for some extra texture but the puff pastry was a little too flaky and not nearly buttery enough.
Signature roast pigeon (沙田乳鴿) – Still very very good. So juicy and succulent. The crispy skin was perfect.
Steamed shrimp dumpling (鳳眼蝦餃) – Similar to a har gow but with a different kind of wrapping highlighted by the shrimp on top. The wrapper, I thought, was flavored with carrot but it was very very light.
Fried glutinous rice dumplings (非常山竹) – I was expecting something along the line of a salty fried dumplings (鹹水角).
This was pretty nice. The filling of sweet corn and crab meat was matched with something like a cheese sauce.
Fried rice with (大肚婆炒飯) – Really tasted a lot better than what the presentation suggested. There were plenty of contrasting textures in there from the diced green beans, red rice, crab meat and corn.
Steamed glutinous rice dumpling with red bean paste (可愛南瓜) – There's always room for dessert for us and we have quite a long list to choose from. These little pumpkins were too cute to pass up on.
I am not a fan of red bean paste but I have to admit, it was a good match with the glutinous rice.
Milk pudding (得意小豬) – Speaking of cute, little nugget spotted this from our neighbour.
A piggy-shaped milk pudding!
I didn't get to try this myself but judging from my son's facial expression, it has to be pretty tasty.
Piggy swimming in a pool of soya milk!
Despite the lack of traditional dim sum, I thought this turned out to be a pretty decent meal. My only complaints were the fact that (1) they had way too many spicy dishes on the menu which isn't too kids friendly and (2) as many already pointed out on the social media, service wasn't very attentive. But I'm okay as long as I don't need to go to the kitchen counter to claim my own dishes.
