I have some unfinished business at Dang Wen Li by Dominique Ansel from my visit last week so right after lunch, I decided to bring the gang over for some sweet treat.
Fish Balls (魚蛋) – One of my favorite snacks/desserts here. The mochi "fish balls" were again nicely done with the chewy glutinous rice working well with the caramelized crust and filling of homemade red bean ice cream. Love the contrasting temperature of the torched mochi and red bean ice cream and of course, the different textures.
Bean Curd Sweet Soup Soft Serve (腐竹糖水軟雪糕) – The bean curd, gingko and barley combined well to re-create the taste of our traditional bean curd sweet soup. I thought the soy milk soft serve did taste a little like bean curd sweet soup.
Cantaloupe Double Popsicles (哈密瓜孖條) – This is what I came here for, their new double popsicles with sweet melon sorbet hidden in the middle.
Seems like little nugget didn't really enjoy the sorbet.
Lemon Juice Box (檸檬茶) – Well, he wasn't paying attention to the cantaloupe sorbet because he had his mind on this the entire time. His favorite pastry here is a perfect symphony of flavors and textures which included a delicate Earl grey mascarpone mousse, bergamot curd, almond biscuit, crispy feuilletine and of course white chocolate. It's not just little nugget's favorite, it's my favorite too.
