For the second straight week, I am taking Friday afternoon off but unlike what happened last week (when we went to The Fullerton), I had no idea where I was going. After a couple of stopovers, I found myself taking a stroll at Harbour City. With most restaurants still packed at 2pm, I was fortunate enough to find a relatively quiet Dang Wen Li by Dominique Ansel (當文歷餅店). Perhaps a sweet lunch?
A cup of hot chocolate to start things off, this time without the marshmallow.
Sun Kwai Heung char siu and egg croissant (新桂香叉燒蛋牛角包) – I didn't always have the chance to try the food menu here so this was the perfect opportunity to do so as I was searching for a place to grab a quick lunch.
This was in collaboration with Sun Kwai Heung (新桂香燒臘), one of the city’s most popular roast meats shop hailing from Chai Wan who's famous for its succulent char siu. Apart from the slices of char siu, there was the soft French omelette served in the middle of the freshly-baked croissant, finished off nicely with a homemade honey mayonnaise. Not bad.
Bean curd sweet soup soft serve (腐竹糖水軟雪糕) – Okay, now something from the sweet department. This just looks too adorable to eat.
The refreshing soy milk soft serve was topped with candied gingko and fresh yuba rolls from Shu Kee (樹記) together re-creating the flavors of a classic bean curd and ginkgo nut sweet soup!
I thought this would be like a deconstructed bean curd sweet soup re-interpreted using different forms of the same ingredients. But as it turned out, only the sweet soup came in different texture (in soft serve).
Next to try? I haven't had a double popsicle stick (孖條) for a long long time! It had to go all the way back to my university days!
