For the second straight year, we are celebrating Dragon Boat Festival at Imperial Treasure Fine Chinese Cuisine (御寶軒) in Tsim Sha Tsui but this time around, it wasn't my call.
It was another cloudy day today with heavy rain forecasted for this afternoon. This is not looking good at all. A span of two weeks (and counting) with rainfall and zero sunshine. It felt like I've moved back to Vancouver already.
It looks like I can take the entire day off. Jelloman already made the call to come here for lunch and now, she's taking charge to order from the food menu as well. 👍
Barbecued pork with honey sauce (金牌蜜汁叉燒) – A pretty popular dish around here obviously. I thought the honey glaze wasn't bad but the texture of the char siu could have been more juicy and a little less chewy.
Steamed prawn dumpling (筍尖鮮蝦餃) – Bite sized shrimp and bamboo shoot wrapped in a delicate wrapper. Pretty nice.
Steamed chicken feet with black bean sauce (豉汁蒸鳳爪) – Little nugget's favorite dish but he wasn't biting today. I wonder why...
Steamed beef tripe with "chu hou" sauce (柱侯金錢肚) – Very tender.
Baked chicken and mushroom pastry (蘑菇雞粒酥) – The puff pastry was pretty disappointing (coming from a Michelin starred restaurant) and the sauce inside tasted like glue.
Steamed dumpling with dried scallop in superior soup (瑤柱灌湯餃) – I didn't have the pleasure of having this cuz it's meant for.....
His highness. Well, he loves anything with a flavorful broth.
Wok-fried "Hor Fun" with prawn in Penang style (檳城炒河粉) – This tasted a little funny cuz we asked them to make a non-spicy version. It's obviously meant to have some extra kick of spiciness.
This place has been on a steady decline for years. I wonder if they will still have the blessing from the Michelin brass next year.
