Butao Ramen VWalk 豚王 (Hong Kong, CHINA) ★★★☆☆

I promised little one that he would get another chance to have his favorite Japanese ramen this weekend. After thoroughly enjoying his shio ramen at Oreryu Shio Ramen (俺流塩らーめん) Grand Plaza last Saturday, he will get another crack, although this time it will be Butao Ramen (豚王)'s tonkotsu ramen getting the call.

It's been a while since our father-and-son duo sat at a ramen bar looking at the chefs work behind the scene. Last time we did that, it was over 9 months ago in Soho. Wow, time really flies especially with the pandemic.

I could smell the pork bone based broth from miles away. Very aromatic and not surprisingly, working wonders with the noodles. This came with the usual suspects including a thin slice of char siu, black fungus and fresh chives. No bamboo shoot.

The soft-boiled egg was extra and it was very nicely done.

As usual, little nugget was head over heels over his ramen noodles. When I ask him to compare his shio ramen he had last week with this one, he promptly suggested that this one was way better. I don't know if I can trust him. He has such short memory of the things he eats. But if I were the one picking, I take the tonkotsu ramen here in a heartbeat! 😝
