One of the things I was worried about before arriving in the Mount Aso region was where to get our lunch in no-man's land. Turns out we didn't have to worry about a thing.
As soon as we zoom into Kusasenri (草千里ケ浜), a plateau full of grass with peacefully grazing cows and horses, we found a huge rest area with a small number of cafes, restaurants and shops.
Time for a pit stop!
Located on the first floor of the building just on top of Cafe Reset is Kusasenri View Restaurant (ニュー草千里 阿蘇ヴォーノ), a self-service cafeteria style restaurant with a great view of Mount Aso.
This is very spacious. Based on the sign on the wall, it could accommodate 300 diners at the same time.
Like any Japanese ramen shops, vending machines were used for purchasing tickets.
Everything is pretty much self-explanatory (with English and Chinese user interface).
Once I got all the tickets, I moved over to the pick-up counter. Very easy.
While I waited for our dishes to be ready, my boss went to the other side of the restaurant to get ourselves a table.
Japanese curry! Haven't had that on this trip...
I got myself some deep-fried pork cutlets. These were actually quite decent.
Little one's having ramen again...
After our quick lunch, we spent some time running around Kusasenri (草千里ケ浜).
Of course, we had to head uphill to get a better view of Mount Aso.
Turned out this wasn't much better than the view from the restaurant.
Some selfie time before we head back to the car for our next destination - Oita.
