Hotel Trusty Premier Kumamoto is perched on top of the recently opened Sakura Machi Kumamoto, a shopping and entertainment hub in central Kumamoto. We arrived by car and were trying very hard to find a signage that said "Hotel Trusty Premier" but no cigar. So, I had to pull over and asked a guy who's working at this indoor parking arcade. Turned out it's the indoor parking (grey one) for both the shopping centre and hotel. But where are the signs???
As soon as we found the entrance to the mall, it was pretty straightforward from there. Just follow the signs, which are everywhere.
We had some issues at the check-in counter coz some of the counter staff didn't speak fluent English but we managed to get by without major hiccups (other than a couple of room keys that didn't work).
Like most hotel rooms in Japan (except those five-star hotel ones), the rooms here were pretty narrow so we had to weave our way through.
The space even got smaller thanks to our twin beds.
Little nugget didn't have any problem weaving his way through to the end of the room.
Despite the limited real estate, they managed to squeeze in a small walk-in closet.
Like the room itself, the bathroom was pretty narrow in shape.
I was a little surprised how they fit everything in there. The basin area was relatively spacious.
There's a shower area, equipped with its own shower door.
Even a regular size bath tub!
As expected, there wasn't much of a view from our room.
I have spotted these check-out kiosks at a couple of hotels we stayed at. It's very easy to use, even my little one knew how that worked.
One of the biggest advantage of staying at Trusty Premier Kumamoto is its direct access to the shopping mall underneath the hotel. It's also conveniently situated near most of the tourist attractions (except Kumamoto Castle), which is why it's such a popular choice among tourists.
It's a reasonably good stay but it could have been helped by some better service. The check-in wasn't smooth (communication in English wasn't the greatest) and some of our keys didn't work (so I had to rush downstairs to get us new ones). The weirdest of all, Jelloman found an open bottle of water inside the fridge! I don't think that ever happened to me in my life and I've been to 42 countries in the world. Crazy.
