The Four Scholars (四大才子) are meeting for dinner tonight in Tsim Sha Tsui. I honestly couldn't think of any good places to go in the area. Thankfully, J saved me some trouble by calling the shots tonight. I have never heard of this place called Tai Fung Lau Peking Restaurant (泰豊廔酒家) near Hart Avenue. Since its name sounds like too "fung lau" in Cantonese (too dissolute or loose 太風流), we all had a good laugh about it.
After a couple of appetizers followed by the pork dumplings, it was time for our main course to show up. It's the restaurant's signature dish, Peking duck (北京烤鴨)! Succulent, that's the only way I could sum it up.
Our night ended brightly with some deep-fried egg white balls and red bean paste (高力豆沙).
All of us agreed that both the interior decor and food here look very much the same as Spring Deer (鹿鳴春飯店), another Chinese restaurant famous for its Peking style cuisine (which wasn't too far away from here). I wonder if that's considered a compliment.
