Isoragi Kaisendon Ochazuke Restaurant 磯らぎ 海鮮丼 茶泡飯專賣店 (Fukuoka, JAPAN) ★★★☆☆

We didn't have a lot of time to spend on our first day after touching down in Fukuoka in late afternoon. Instead of venturing far out, we decided to just have a simple dinner at AMU Plaza which was a stone's throw away from our hotel.

There are a lot of nice options around here and we ended up going with Isoragi (磯らぎ), a restaurant specialized in Kaisendon and Ochazuke (海鮮丼 茶泡飯專賣店). Just by looking at these photos in front of the restaurant got me drooling all over.

It's always nice to sit around the counter table to see what the chefs are doing behind the scene.

But we opted for a more quiet surrounding with a view of Hakata Station right underneath.

It didn't take long for our ochazuke (Japanese tea rice) to arrive and it was absolutely beautiful!

It's a very busy dish with lots of ingredients including raw and cooked shrimp, sea bream, smoked eel, mushroom, egg custard and sea urchin, finished off beautifully with loads of fresh salmon roes.

This was born to be IG material (uploading to Instagram the moment I typed this...)!

I couldn't tell whether this was really Japanese tea or dashi that came with our seafood rice bowl. Let's find out.

After patiently waiting for a couple of minutes while the hot tea drew flavors from the seafood, I started munching away at the soupy rice. It was indeed very yummy!

Some spices in case you want to spice things up a bit.

Our night wasn't finished yet as there were more food to come after the tea rice. First, it was the sea bream sashimi served with Japanese mustard sauce. I thought the sauce was really nice but the sea bream a bit chewy.

Of course, we had to try their other specialty, kaisendon (Japanese seafood rice bowl). With 7 more days of good food ahead of us, I wasn't ready to stuff myself tonight so just a simple rice bowl with sea urchin and salmon roes for me. Not bad.

A complimentary dessert that tasted like tofu with maple syrup finished off our night.
