For the last couple of years, I have been relying on the Naver app for all my food and travel research in Seoul. As a matter of fact, my first stop in Myeongdong tonight was straight from the app.
Myeongdong Sand (명동샌드) is a new ice cream shop specializing in ice cream cookies and cones. They don’t have a huge menu — just four flavors to choose from: Earl Grey, matcha, coffee, and cream cheese.
I’ve heard that people have started buying their 6-pack or 10-pack boxes as souvenirs to bring home but for us, we were just in it for a quick treat!

I thought the cookie was a little too much on the hard side (I have really poor teeth for my age). I expected this to be more crispy or crunchy but it was neither.
The Earl Grey cream (or ice cream?) in the middle didn’t quite hit the mark either. Flavor-wise, it just felt a bit flat. And to be brutally honestly, in a food district as competitive as Myeongdong, I’m not so sure how long they’ll be able to stick around with offerings like this.
Of course, you can’t trust every single recommendation on Naver. We always take things with a grain of salt and in this case, we trusted our own taste buds to make the final call.
