I finally shook off the check of Jelloman and little nugget (or was it the other way around?) and got myself some Me Time in Daimyo (大名).
Touted as the trendy shopping quarter of Fukuoka, Daimyo has the reputation of a hip district mixing Japanese and Western designer boutiques with independent stores. Despite the relatively short walk from Tenjin, I was sweating like a pig (the temperature was reportedly 36 degrees) so I needed something frosty to cool myself off before all the shopping. And that's where ViTO comes in... 🍨
ViTO is a highly regarded Italian gelato shop in Fukuoka with multiple outlets around the city. As a matter of fact, during my 3-day stay, I already bumped into three of their shops at separate locations.

As hot as it was today, I was surprised to find that the gelato shop was entirely empty without a single customer.
23 flavors to choose from, not bad in terms of selection.
Pistachio, rich milk tea, Kurogoma latte (which is actually black sesame). Three scoops for a total of 550 yen. That's one third of the price I paid for my gelato at Coco Gelato last night. Talked about value for money here.
I thought both he black sesame and pistachio were really rich in flavor and creamy at the same time. The milk tea was more mild but it was fragrant enough to stand out from the other two strong flavors.
There was no doubt in my mind which was the better choice to have my gelato in Fukuoka, between Coco and ViTO. ViTO won it in a landslide especially considering the difference in price.
Another thing I love about this branch of ViTO; it's closing time! 11pm on a weeknight and 11:30pm on the weekend.
