After a brief visit to Doughnut Time Borough High Street where I picked up 2 doughnuts, I went back to work again at Crosstown Doughnuts, a small doughnut chain that specializes in handcrafted doughnuts with creative flavors made with high-quality, fresh ingredients.
Comparing to Doughnut Time, Crosstown Doughnuts offers so much more vegan options and far more fruity flavors than the usual chocolate and nutty flavors (which is more common for doughnuts). Check out these creative fruity flavors: Vegan Maple Bacon and Banana, Winter Fruit Crumble (Vegan), Chamomile, Pear and Lemon Olive Oil, Lime and Coconut (Vegan) and Sea Salt Caramel Banana Cream. I can't make up my mind what to get!
Sea Salt Caramel Banana Cream (£3.95) - An inspiration from Banoffee pie, one of UK's most iconic desserts. A winning combination of sweet, silky, fresh banana custard filling encased in a light and fluffy chocolate sourdough, topped off beautifully with a swirl of sea salt caramel and homemade chocolate soil.
Look at that runny banana custard filling in the middle. Absolutely gorgeous!
While Doughnut Time's funky doughnuts got all the looks, taste-wise, they were no comparison to Crosstown Doughnuts' creative flavors. Not even close.
