POIRE Entrée 1969 (Osaka, JAPAN) ★★★☆☆

When chef-owner Tsujii Yoshiki opened POIRE back in 1969 following his extensive travels in Europe, he had his eye on opening a store that offers some of the most authentic French desserts in Osaka, which was not available at the time. The brand has evolved a lot since then and they are now offering much more than just cheesecakes and Mont Blanc cakes.

There were some really interesting desserts when we were visiting this afternoon. This one, for example, will be perfect for those who want a little bit of everything in one single dessert.

Mousse Aux Figues (660 yen) - I went with this fig mousse cake instead.

I was kind of attracted to this by its lovely presentation.

Underneath the layer of silky fig mousse were fig compote and some chocolate sponge. I thought the fig would be a little stronger in flavors but instead it was pretty light. So, when it was matched with a rich chocolate sponge, it was easily over-matched.
