Ganto Gelato is an artisan gelateria originated from Kwun Tong. Ever since I heard of their recent opening at New World Town Hall in Lai Chi Kok, I've been itching for a chance to check out some of their exciting flavors. Tonight, I finally got the chance to do so on April fool's day.
They have a pretty nice facility here at New World Town Hall. I wish they have done a better job advertising it.
Like most artisan gelateria, Ganto only makes their gelato in small batches. Not surprisingly, there were only a small selection of these flavors available tonight including matcha, Sicilian pistachio, super mint (there is a ultra mint), and dark chocolate.
A “Small double” with two flavors goes for $43. Not bad.
Piedmont hazelnut – Rich and creamy in flavor, but not overly nutty.
Basque burnt cheesecake – It was savory-sweet with some chunky bits on top, presumably to mimic the caramelized crust of a Basque burnt cheesecake. But sadly, it tasted nothing like a burnt cheesecake 😔😔.
I thought service was very poor tonight. My server was way too concentrated on her smartphone and when I asked for help, she acted like I was the one bothering her. Definitely a one-and-done experience for me.
