It felt like decades since I last visited Cityplaza. I don't usually come to this side of the Island, but something came up that I had to handle personally. By the time the dust was all settled, it was already lunchtime. Fortunately, there were plenty of dining options near Cityplaza, and Zagin Soba (座銀) got the final nod since I was craving Japanese ramen this afternoon.
The counter bar is usually where I park myself at any ramen shop.
Tori Paitan Soba ($148) – Originated from Osaka, this place serves up arguably the best chicken broth ramen in town.
The chicken fillet and pork shoulder with two distinctively different flavor and texture profile.
The bamboo shoots were nice and crunchy, offering a satisfying bite that complemented their natural sweetness.
The chicken fillet was tender and succulent.
The pork shoulder was slightly more flavorful with a firmer texture.
Of course, the heart and soul of the ramen was the broth which was topped with a layer of
velvety, cappuccino-style foam that infused the dish with richness. This wonderfully creamy layer meshed so well with the soba, making each bite am enjoyable experience.
