Foamy Foamy and Petit·Yanran (小嫣然·法式甜品) are currently considered two of the top French pâtisseries in Hangzhou. I already have both written down as part of our itinerary for today and tomorrow.
With my research showing that Foamy Foamy has a café located right inside the upscale Hangzhou Hubin Yintai In77 (杭州湖滨银泰in77) just a comfortable five-minute walk from our hotel, we made the easy call to visit it on our first day in the city.
It’s conveniently located just one level down from the ground-floor main entrance via the escalator.
As I quickly learnt, Foamy Foamy is more than just a one-trick pony. Their drink menu offers a
small but well-curated selection of coffee and soft drinks.
But I wasn't interested in a caffeine fix or refreshing beverage. I wanted one of these French pastries and I wanted it now!
Inflorescence (花序) (¥42) – A combination of jasmine tea, passion fruit, mango and orange.
I love anything with tea in it so this was right up my alley. Interestingly, the jasmine tea mousse and mango did work well together (I was worried about that) but passion fruit and orange felt like a peculiar choice to add to the tea flavors at the same time.
This electronic display of "I'm at West Lake" is drawing huge crowds outside the department store. Even little nugget got into the act.
