Jelloman had been curious about Chiu Gee Chinese Dessert (趙記傳承中式甜品)’s signature ginger milk curd ever since I mentioned it to her a few weeks ago. So, when she discovered that there was a Chiu Gee outpost just steps away from our dinner spot, it was clear that she wouldn’t miss the chance to finally try it — even if it meant risking our train ride home. 😏😏
Thankfully, this branch of Chiu Gee is conveniently located next to Hua Qiang North station (華強北站) (Exit A).
They have got savory stuff here as well but as I have learnt it the hard way, it’s better to stick with the sweet stuff, more especially the signature ginger milk curd.
Ginger milk curd (薑汁撞奶) (¥15) – This took a while to be ready but our highly anticipated dessert finally made its way to our table. I love any dish with tableside service ; it just adds a special touch to the dining experience.
60 seconds later.....
This was much much better than the pudding I had last time. There was the extra kick of ginger from the layers of milk curd yet it wasn’t overpowering enough to overshadow the rich flavors from the milk. I think it’s definitely something worth coming back for.
